The United States' newest drug-tested federation. 

World Powerlifting brings quality, drug-tested lifting to the masses. Based in Australia, World Powerlifting is the federation that produces the Asia Pacific, the Pacific Invitational, and the Oceania Powerlifting Championships, in addition to local, national and world level meets.

World Powerlifting has a Therapeutic Use Exemption for certain substances as explained more fully here.

  • Where?  The Weight Room, 3413 Carlton Street, Richmond, Virginia 23230
  • When?  Sunday September 25, 2022
  • What Time? Lifting starts at 9am.
  • Weigh Ins? Check in session will be Saturday 9am to 10:30 am and 4pm to 5:30pm.    All lifters will weigh in on Sunday from 7am to 8am.
  • Qualifying?  This meet requires having competed in ANY sanctioned meet in ANY federation as verified by OpenPowerlifting.org within the qualifying period.
  • Period?  Qualifying period will be from January 1, 2021 to Sept 1, 2022.
  • Events?  SBD (squat, bench press & deadlift), Bench Press Only and Deadlift Only.
  • Gear?  Sleeves (Raw).
  • Records?  State, National and World records will be available.
  • Equipment?  World Powerlifting is sponsored by Samtek and we will be using Kilos, Combo Rack and Stainless 20KG Bar all provided by Samtek.

DRUG TESTING INFO

Please note: It's important to understand that a lifter lifting in the non-tested division is not assumed to be on any of the substances that are banned in the tested division.

World Powerlifting USA (WPUSA) is happy to offer drug testing to those wishing to compete in that division. 
  • Drug Tested meets will be stand alone meets completely separate from non-tested meets.​
  • Lifters DO NOT pay for their individual tests if they are chosen to be tested.
  • Drug Testing can only take place at drug tested meets.  No drug tests will be performed at non-tested meets for any reason.
  • Testing will only be performed at the meet.  The lifter must be present if called for testing or otherwise be deemed a "failed" test.
  • Drug Testing will be performed by WPUSA personnel and with WPUSA approved testing supplies.  No outside tests will be accepted.
  •  A lifter has 30 days to appeal a failed test.
  • Lifters who fail a drug test will be banned from World Powerlifting and World Powerlifting USA meets for life.  The lifter may participate in non-tested USPC meets after paying a $1000 fine. 
  • All failed drug tests will be made public once the 30 day appeal period has expired or after a failed appeal attempt. 
  • The WPUSA offers a Therapeutic Use Exemption through World Powerlifting.  Please submit your request no later than 30 days prior to the meet.
