Christopher J Wichtl 36 years old been lifting since 2003
Best lifts in competition?
Athletic background? What you did before powerlifting?
I wrestled in high school and played football.
Had a high school coach (coach Lewis) seen something in me and got me to do a meet in 2003 and poof here we are.
Tell me something about your gym/team.
I don't have anything special gym wise. I train at home in my garage with no heat or air conditioning.
Train alone or training partner/coach, team?
I have a coach @jefferstreanght but I train alone.
Something most people you train with (or those who follow you if you train alone) don't know about you?
Powerlifting is big for me , but not all that I'm good at . For example ...I can sew! Fix nearly anything you give me, build anything too .
Biggest inspiration in the sport?
seeing young people and older people still lifting. i just seen a 70 year old couple still competing and lifting together. And to see some 8 years old get up on stage is just cool.
What's your favorite lift?
picking up cold beer lol but I can't say i have a favorite. I like them all.
Least favorite lift?
picking my fat butt off the bench after going heavy lol. I don't have one as over time I have learned to like them all.
Biggest challenge in your training?
I work outside 10hr day and this fat boy does not like the heat. I also have a family. 4 boys (twin 5 year olds and 9 and 13) don't forget the dog and cat too. so making time for them and for Nicole is important to me.
Training plan. Do your own programming or have a coach?
I do train people. email me or find me on IG and we can talk about it. I also work with coach Trevor Jaffe
Social media. Positives and negatives
Positive is it links people together. I can talk to people that i would only see at meets and things.
Negatives- people post for likes or validation not for themselves. and the hate that is out there. mama always said if you don't have something nice to say keep your mouth shut. lol
Diet you follow? Supplements?
I follow cheese fries and beer diet lol. No, I just eat to stay big or try. but I can say I don't eat like most. I don't do chicken and rice and do not eat seafood. I do pizza and McDonalds. like the McDonald's dinner box. ( 2 big macs 2 cheeseburgers 4 fries and 10 chicken nuggets lol that's a good pre-workout meal lol.
Biggest accomplishment in your powerlifting career?
that is easy it has not happened yet but I have won the XPC finals at the Arnold classic 2x
What's one of your non-powerlifting goals?
To give to this world more than I take and use
Finally, is there anyone you would like to acknowledge or give a shout out to (team, coach, spouse, sponsors)?
Nicole she has seen me at my lowest and stood beside me and I'm where I am at today because she has been there for me.
and that USPC judge called me chunky. lol really all you guys and girls at USPC for what you have and are working on doing.
